As artists, we wield tremendous influence in our culture. Plato rightly feared the arts’ ability to shape thought and sway the affection of society. When we harness the power of our public voice to speak out as advocates, we pierce the consciences of good men and women. We are proud to join forces with artists who are willing to use their influence and platform to tell the stories of those whose voices might never be heard... the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed living in impoverished communities around the world.

Looking Ahead: GMA Week

   Jasmine Owen

We’ve been anticipating this for several long months now… on November 5, we’ll be gathering in Edmonton, Alberta for the 2015 Covenant Awards, celebrating the achievements of some of the very best in Canadian Christian music. We are especially excited to honour our partners in the Artist Collective, many of whom were nominated for their creative output this year, across a number of categories.

As we countdown the days to the award ceremony, we’re also gearing up for a jam-packed lineup of events, running November 3-6, during LIGHT – GMA Week. Presented in partnership with the Gospel Music Association of Canada, and hosted in venues across Edmonton, this four-day gathering will feature inspiring stories, collaborative conversations, and some amazing performances at Artist Showcases held at The Mercer, Westbury Theatre, Planetarium Theatre and Christ City Church.

Several key events to note. The Artist Summit is a two-day, comprehensive training and equipping conference designed for worship leaders, songwriters, musicians, artists and everyone in between. Tickets are still available, so it’s not too late to round up the creatives and leaders around you! Join us on November 4th and 5th for this enriching event… we look forward to dreaming and exploring some exciting new ideas together!

On the night of November 5, several of our talented and passionate World Vision artists will gather for an intimate Songwriter’s Circle, where they’ll open up about the stories and experiences behind their songs. This is a free event at the ATB Arts Barn at Westbury Theatre… and an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with our artists! To cap it all off, join us at Christ City Church on November 6 for A Night of Worship & Music, featuring Amanda Cook of Bethel, as well as our very own Informants and Tim Neufeld & The Glory Boys!

There’s a lot to look forward to in the coming week. Don’t forget to mark your calendars, invite your friends, and get everything you need at See you in Edmonton!
