As artists, we wield tremendous influence in our culture. Plato rightly feared the arts’ ability to shape thought and sway the affection of society. When we harness the power of our public voice to speak out as advocates, we pierce the consciences of good men and women. We are proud to join forces with artists who are willing to use their influence and platform to tell the stories of those whose voices might never be heard... the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed living in impoverished communities around the world.

Kili Climb for Kids

   Steve Lensink

You may have heard the news: some folks from Team World Vision are fixing to climb a mountain.
Yes, you heard that right – A REAL LIFE MOUNTAIN.

From June 16-24, they’ll travel to Tanzania to pit their wits against Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise funds and awareness for our No Child For Sale campaign. A little geography lesson: Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain, standing at a menacing 19,341 ft above sea level (gulp!). Oh, and did we mention it’s also a volcano?
Thankfully they’ve allowed the Artist Collective staff to opt out of participation!

We are incredibly proud of them though, and we’re so excited about our Celebrity partners who have decided to join Team World Vision on this journey. One of them is Rick Campanelli, renowned TV Personality and all-around legend. Rick has been involved with lots of stuff with World Vision over the years, but we’re pretty sure this is his most ambitious undertaking. Fortunately Rick is in fantastic shape, and we don’t doubt his ability to rise to the occasion.

Rick collected some of his thoughts on the challenging, yet important, task before him, which you can read below. Then, head over to the Kili Climb Homepage to see how you can get involved. They’ve got an IndieGoGo page setup to handle the fundraising that you’re going to want to check out. There’s incredible perks for donating featuring Rick, as well as our other celeb. friends who are going on the trip: JD Scott of the famed Scott Brothers, Olympic Medalist Cheryl Bernard, and Youtube sensation Corey Vidal.

“Mount Kilimanjaro seems like such a big feat to overcome!
I just began with my training with GoodLife Fitness two weeks ago which consists of tons of cardio – treadmill, walking, basketball.
I am also doing some lower and upper body resistance with weights.
Jogging is my main workout though – I went for a gorgeous 5km jog around Rome the other day – from the Spanish Steps to St Peter’s square… how lucky am I! I was there shooting with ET Canada. As privileged as I feel working for both an awesome show with equally wonderful people that takes me to some of the most spectacular places in the world; I am often reminded of some of the delightful faces that I have met through my travels over the last decade as an ambassador with World Vision Canada. I am humbled by their stories of resilience and perseverance like Saama: https://youtu.be/30mhusEO5Gw
This is why I have joined @worldvisioncan‘s #teamwv to take part in the #kiliclimb4kids which aims to raise awareness and money to help girls who are forced to work in dirty, dangerous and degrading jobs and live in crisis situations.

I plan on doing a similar distance jog in Calgary this afternoon…
Can’t wait to climb Kili!
