"We appeal to our music-loving fans to open your hearts and change the world. Please join our band. Please sponsor and save a child's life."
Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson came together in 1996 to collaborate on what was supposed to be a one-off tribute album to Canadian songwriter Willie P. Bennett. Each was deeply committed to vibrant solo careers and had no plans to form a new band.
Now in their second decade, with a JUNO award and several nominations under their belts, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings has evolved organically into one of the finest roots-oriented bands in North America. Their sense of groove, timbral blend, and melodic and rhythmic play are distinctive and evocative. Blackie and the Rodeo Kings remains one of Canada’s greatest musical treasures.
When you sponsor a child, you help break the cycle of poverty by providing a child and their community with life-saving necessities. Canadians have been partnering with World Vision for 60 years, because they've discovered that sponsorship works. With your help, we partner with the child, their family, neighbours and local leaders to transform a struggling community into one that is thriving. World Vision’s programs focus on Food, Education, Health, Clean water, Child Protection and other vital areas which improve the lives of children and their community.
